I all the years that I've been creating songs I was only covered ONCE (virtual world), and - believe it or not - that cover was way worse than my own performance! That was it! For a while I considered having American musicians record one or two of my songs - studios in Nashville, for example, offer (or offered) such services. But when I listened to their samples I found them rather uninspired and slack - for about $ 1,000 per song.
Now there is Suno, an AI based music creation service. For example you can send them lyrics and let them create songs in a style that you specify. Since a while they also do covers. They offer what I had always dreamed of: having my own songs played properly. When you repeat the procedure, i.e. click on the button several times, you get two new versions per click. They all differ, you can change the style, or have them extend your song and add solos, and so on.
Until recently Suno let you upload a maximun of two minutes of your audio that it analyzes and extends. Thus, the original solo part or a bridge might be omitted, truncated, or replaced by a Suno generated version. Now it can handle eight minutes, so I could have it cover my longer songs, "one of seven billion" and "terminal disease".
one of seven billion
terminal disease
scavengers
hell or high water
drunken night
flash flood
cold as the mountains*
I love you all **
next in line
against the wall
mighty Mom
my bride
time runs out
call me John
* this cover is based on my acoustic version
** originally, I had written the lyrics for female vocals. On my Suno demo page you can find what Suno made of them
